Zahir — End User License Agreement

Effective date: 2026-11-05 Version: 1.0

This End User License Agreement (the "Agreement") is a binding contract between you and Northlane Studio ("Northlane Studio", "we", "us"), the developer of Zahir (the "Software").

By installing, copying, or using the Software you accept this Agreement. If you do not accept it, do not install the Software.

1. What you get

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software, for your own personal or internal business use, on up to 3 computers you own or control.

The Software is sold as a one-time purchase, with no subscription and no account. Your purchase gives you a licence key. The price is the one shown at https://northlanestudio.dev/zahir/ when you buy. The licence is granted to you, not sold: we keep all rights in the Software that this Agreement does not expressly give you.

2. Your key

The Software needs a valid key to run. When you activate it, the Software sends the key and an anonymous identifier of your computer to our server, and receives a licence for that computer that keeps working without an internet connection.

You can free a computer from License… in the tray icon menu, or by writing to [email protected]. Keep your key private: anyone who has it can use one of your places. We may revoke a key that was refunded, charged back, or shared publicly. A revoked key stops the Software the next time it can reach our server.

3. What you may not do

You may not, and may not let anyone else:

  1. sell, rent, lease, sublicense or distribute the Software or your key, or offer the Software as a service to others;
  2. get around the key or the activation;
  3. reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the exact extent that your local law says you may do so regardless of contract;
  4. remove or alter any copyright notice, trade mark or attribution;
  5. use the Software to do something illegal, or to infringe somebody else's rights.

Breaking any of these terminates your licence automatically.

4. What the Software shows

Zahir is a small island at the top of your screen. It reads what Windows reports about media playing, batteries, and the apps using your camera or microphone, and it shows the weather and how busy your computer is. It only displays this information to you; what leaves your computer is described in the Privacy Policy. Weather comes from a third party and may be wrong.

5. Updates

The Software checks for updates and asks before installing one. Updates are covered by this Agreement. We are not obliged to produce updates, support any particular version of Windows, or keep any particular feature forever.

6. Open source components

The Software includes third-party open source components, listed with their licences in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md. Those components are licensed to you under their own licences, not under this Agreement, and where their licence gives you more rights than this Agreement, their licence wins for that component.

7. No warranty

To the maximum extent the law allows, the Software is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind — express, implied or statutory — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

8. Limits on our liability

To the maximum extent the law allows:

Nothing in this Agreement limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you. If you are a consumer, you keep every mandatory right your local consumer law gives you, and nothing here takes those away.

9. Term and termination

This Agreement runs until it is terminated. You can terminate it at any time by uninstalling the Software. We can terminate it if you materially break it. When it terminates you must stop using the Software and delete your copies. Clauses 7, 8, 10 and 11 survive termination.

10. Governing law and where disputes go

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the United Mexican States, and the courts of Mexico City, Mexico have jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your own local courts.
